It’s Monday afternoon and I am here to tell you that it’s not your fault, apparently.
If you’re a dad who’s prone to embarrassing dancing then don’t worry, it’s not your fault. That’ll be a bout of ‘beat deafness’.
If things aren’t going too great in your business then don’t worry, it’s not your fault. That’ll be due to the fact that you don’t have a boring but conscientious (not my words!) wife.
Looking older than your years? Don’t worry, it’s not your fault – you most likely live in a city.
These are all headlines in the papers. They would have us believe that nothing is our fault – our health, our careers and even our dancing (although, that really may be a case of either having it or not).
The truth is, as I’m sure you’re aware, it is our fault, all of it.
And you know that.
If you’re worried that your face is adding 10 years to your real age then you can change your lifestyle. If you’re worried that your dancing makes Ed Balls look like Michael Jackson then you can get lessons. And, if your business isn’t quite where you want it to be yet, then you can change that too (and not by changing spouses!), because you’re in control.
And what a great place that is to be. Liberating.
I know, it’s not always a comfortable position to be in and sometimes it would be much easier to reject that responsibility and look for the nearest excuse, but none of us went into business thinking that it was going to be easy, did we?
For all of us, there is something in our business that we could exercise greater control of this week – it might be a case of staff sabotage, a disappointing marketing campaign or even our time. But, we can take control – each of us embracing responsibility.
Oh, and stop reading the papers – they’re full of s***.
Have a great week – & if you’d like some help cracking the most important thing in business – the rhythmic acquisition of customers – then give me a call…
